Langley and Vancouver, BC
After spending most of Christmas and Boxing Day cooped up inside, I was
happy to see a bit of sunshine and colour today, so I drove around locally
up to nearby Fort Langley to find a nice angle from which to capture
Golden Ears in the setting sun. Mt. Blanchard gets its nickname,
"Golden Ears", from the appearance of its twin peaks when touched by the
sun's golden light. The area surrounding the mountain was made a provincial
park in 1927; dayhiking, fishing, and tent camping opportunities abound.

The next day, I went to a matinee showing of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" at the
Queen Elizabeth Theatre in town, presented by Ballet BC and the Alberta Ballet,
with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
It was quite enjoyable, and I was even able to get a few decent photos from
my seat way up in the balcony.
