Jon+Rosanna's young-adults' small group had a fun-filled few weeks to close
out the summer! On 10 August we had a potluck and "hike" around the
waterfront at Port Moody, together with Maggie Li's small group from
Fraser Lands. That was lots of fun; the weather was just perfect! We all
had way too much delicious food! I was kind of zoned out for most of it
because I was just coming off of
the Zion retreat that afternoon, but I
vaguely remember meeting lots of people, seeing old small-group friends Tony
and Venus again, and singing lots of songs. It was fantastic fun, but I
don't think I really started processing until everyone left and I had a quiet
time alone in the twilight on the pier.
The next week, our small group met up again for Bible study and
another potluck (my
contribution was simply the unopened drinks from the previous week!), this
time just with our own small group. Our dear brothers Moses and Caleb are
leaving us -- perhaps for good! Awww.... Mo is gallivanting off to China
and the Middle East to pursue God's work with his parents, and Caleb is
traipsing off to Calgary to pursue God's preparation in seminary at Ambrose!
As a special treat, we got to cheer Mo on as he got baptised (for the third
time!). Following the spirit of the Ethiopian eunuch with Philip --
"Here is water; what prevents me from being baptised?" -- we went to nearby
Coquitlam River, at the foot of a highway/railway underpass (which was
wicked loud!).
We're so proud of Mo and Caleb, and we will miss them terribly!
