This year is the 47th annual Canada Chinese Christian Winter Conference, and this year I finally got the chance to go, as a workshop speaker for the teens! I had a fun time there ministering with the kids and connecting with fellow coworkers in Christ from all over BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. I didn't expect to have so much fun chatting over lunches with parents from the Cantonese congregation -- folks passionate about serving God, invested in their kids' spiritual growth, and broken over the sin and temptations assailing the current generation.
I was so impressed with the number of guys who came to the workshop on Biblical manhood (Genesis 2:15 was our key verse). It's not easy for guys to sign up for this sort of thing (heh, they wanted to sneak over to the "for girls only" workshop!). May God bless these strong gentlemen, these servant leaders, these warriors for truth. May they continue to bring comfort ("put"), to work hard and cultivate ("serve"), and to protect with courage and shepherd with gentleness ("keep"), under the authority of Christ.
I also had a ton of fun in good one-on-one conversations with like-minded brothers and sisters -- chatting with Lorraine on the flights about fears and dreams; praying with Winnie in the cafeteria for her voice and renewed spirit; sharing with Danielle late into the night in the lobby about Biblical roles for women. I told myself that my body couldn't handle staying up all night like I used to at retreats -- but still we ended up chatting until 3am! Ay, now I have to recuperate for a couple days....
