Fort Caswell, Oak Island, NC
Oh, what a joy it was to visit my old North Carolina church again,
at the annual Labor Day church retreat!
It was heartwarming to see how much the kids have grown, both
spiritually and physically.
Middle-schoolers that have grown up to be leaders in the youth group,
graduated kids that are now in college (yipes!), new 6th and 7th graders
who've moved up from the children's program, and several first-timers
-- it was such a tremendous privilege to hang out with all of them.
Our topics for the weekend, taken from Daniel ch1,3,4,6, were
"Stand Up" (Identity), "Jump In" (Courage), "Kneel Down" (Humility), and
"Walk On" (Consistency).
Special thanks to Tim for taking care of all the retreat coordination so that
I could even have some time to hang out with the young adults and the
Chinese congregation. So many memories; it was an emotional weekend for sure!
(Credit for some of the photos goes to Roger when he was playing around
with my camera; also Tim for taking the photos of me speaking at the end.)
I also mentioned the retreat in
a couple of my blog entries!
